Always be FOR something, not AGAINST

I had an argument with Chu last night while we were driving home. In fact, it was nothing to do with the relationship between us, but it was something to do with the opinion of helping people. The episode goes like this. One of my lower classmates who asked me to help her check the questionnaire she designed for her dissertation. As a professional, I not only gave her suggestion, but also hoped her to clarify some concepts when doing research. Then, I shared what I have done with Chu. However, Chu said that I should focus on the part she asked, not giving other suggestion because I am not her advisor. Besides, the suggestion I gave may annoy her. It is true. I had some bad experience – I received a censure about my critical remark although my intention was good. Chu just tried to remind me of the bad experience. But, ....
